About
Melisa Thompson is Of Counsel in Williams Kastner’s Real Estate practice team. She focuses her practice on representing clients in a wide range of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financing, and development of residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and mixed-use properties. She has deep experience in navigating complex title issues, resolving probate-related property rights, and assisting with environmental due diligence and title insurance coverage.
Melisa also advises clients on landlord/tenant matters, including drafting and negotiating commercial leases, handling lease defaults and terminations, and preparing option agreements and amendments. Her prior work in real estate title examination and underwriting provides her with practical, hands-on knowledge that benefits clients throughout every stage of a transaction.
In addition to her real estate practice, Melisa counsels clients on business and corporate matters. She has advised clients on entity formation, governance, amendments, and dissolution, as well as the negotiation of joint ventures, tenant-in-common agreements, and franchise contracts. She also prepares and negotiates loan documents, legal opinions, and agreements related to easements, encroachments, lot line adjustments, and other shared property interests.
