Indian Lawyers Assist Gaming Compact Renegotiations - Debora Juarez and Gabe Galanda are proud to have represented the Lower
Elwha Klallam and Skokomish Tribes in the recent state-tribal renegotiations of Appendix X in Washington.
The two tribes lease all or part of their player terminal allocation rights to other tribes. "Appendix
X2" was signed by Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire and the elected Chairpersons of
twenty-seven Washington tribes in March 2007, and has been sent to the U.S. Department of Interior for
final approval.

Litigators Assist Round Valley With Trust Claims - Tribal Practice Team members Sharon Haensly, Gabe Galanda and Debora Juarez recently
filed suit against the United States in the Court of Federal Claims on behalf of the Round Valley Indian
Tribes regarding the federal government's mismanagement of the tribes' trust assets. Gabe is an enrolled
member of the Round Valley Tribes.
Gabe Galanda was recently quoted in a Boston Globe article, "Hedging
their bets," regarding national tribal economic diversification efforts.

His remarks will be in large part based upon his experience helping achieve the landmark
Tse-whit-zen settlement for the Lower Elwha Klallam people.
19th Annual WSBA Indian Law Section CLE - Seattle, WA (May 4, 2006) - Gabe Galanda will be
speaking about "Tribal Insurance Law: Ensuring the Protection of Sovereignty and Jurisdiction," based upon
his recent scholarship on that topic (see articles listed above).
