Round Valley's Resurgence Profiled - Williams Kastner's Tribal Practice Group, general counsel to Round Valley, is proud of the Tribes' recent exposure in The Press Democrat, concerning tribal efforts to create economic prosperity on the reservation. The article highlights the Tribes' opening of the Hidden Oaks Casino and redevelopment of an RV park, and their plans to start a gravel mine as well as a gas station and convenience store. Seattle Member Gabe Galanda is a Round Valley Tribal member.

Anthony Broadman Wins Trial - Congratulations to Seattle Associate and gaming litigator Anthony Broadman, who recently obtained a $300,000-plus verdict on behalf of one of our gaming manufacturer clients, in a breach of contract action before the King County Superior Court.

Julio Carranza Addresses U.S. Congressional Hispanic Caucus - Seattle Associate Julio Carranza, a foster care alumnus, recently delivered a speech to federal lawmakers regarding the need for legislation that will aid Latino foster care children. Julio remarked: "Our family, our language, our religion, our values, even our food, weave together like a serape to represent what it means to be a Latino. When that is stripped from our children while in foster care, they are left vulnerable, confused, and disconnected from their community." Such is equally true of Native foster care youth. Julio aspires to represent Indian families and children in various family law matters, as well as tribes in local ICWA cases.

Gabe Galanda Featured on Tribal Economic Diversity - Gabe Galanda was featured in an Everett Herald article regarding tribes' efforts to moving away from sole reliance on the volatile Indian gaming market. Paraphrasing Gabe, the article provides: "Tribal-owned casinos are only successful when economic conditions and political will allows them to be . . . It's unlikely state and federal legislators will ever force the casinos to close, but tribal governments may not always reap the same profits. Savvy tribal governments . . . are diversifying now."
