Quanah Spencer Featured in Yakima Herald-Republic on Higher EducationSeattle, WA. (February 1, 2010) – Quanah Spencer, Of Counsel in the Seattle office, is featured in an article in the Yakima Herald-Republic, “Higher Aspirations for Higher Learning Among Yakamas.” The article focuses on recent efforts undertaken by the Yakama tribe to encourage its members to earn high school and college degrees—only 6.5% of Yakama members hold bachelor’s degrees, while two-thirds lack high school degrees. Mr. Spencer, a 1994 graduate of Toppenish High School who earned his J.D. from the University of Colorado, explains that for tribal members, focusing on education “comes down to fortitude and dedication,” and a rejection of the “reservation lifestyle.” |
