Sheryl Willert Interviewed in The Washington TimesSeattle, WA. (December 15, 2009) – Seattle Member and Managing Director Sheryl Willert is quoted in The Washington Times regarding the Supreme Court’s announcement that it will hear City of Ontario v. Quon, an employee privacy case appealed to the Court by the city of Ontario, California. The case centers on whether or not the Ontario police department had the right to access personal text messages sent by an Ontario police officer from his city-issued pager. Ms. Willert notes that a Court ruling in favor of the police officer, which would expand the notion of employee privacy in the workplace, will have an adverse effect on businesses. “Sometimes in an effort to achieve the objective of what is going on in the workplace you need to do things like check if someone has been sitting at their desk all day surfing the Internet,” she explains. |
