Our track record of success in the courtroom is extensive.  We have successfully prosecuted a major lender liability case (which involved alleged wrongful debt acceleration, wrongful repossession and disposition of a manufacturing plant, inventories and intellectual properties) in state court, on appeal and in federal bankruptcy proceedings–we obtained a multi-million-dollar judgment for our client. Other significant issues litigated include determination of propriety of and legal standards applicable to debt accelerations; adequacy and legal effect of debtor’s consents and waivers; adequacy and legality of collateral disposition procedures; and valuation issues concerning going concern versus liquidation values and valuation of inventories, real properties, manufacturing equipment, patents and other intellectual properties.

In the area of medical malpractice, our attorneys have accumulated extensive experience in handling– almost exclusively for the defense–medical and dental malpractice claims. We defend far more health care providers and institutions than any other law firm in the Pacific Northwest. Our extensive medical library and intimate knowledge of substantive medical and legal issues allow efficient and effective representation of physicians, midwives, nurses, clinics, hospitals and other health care providers. Our firm has also been actively involved in representing a number of dentists before the Dental Disciplinary Board as well as a number of physicians before the Medical Disciplinary Board and the King County Medical Society.

In the area of products liability, besides traditional individual cases, our attorneys have also accumulated extensive experience in handling mass tort litigation. We have considerable experience with such representative products as PCBs, asbestos, intrauterine devices, formaldehyde products, polyurethane and polystyrene, diethylstilbestrol (DES), and other drug products.

In addition to mass tort litigation, our attorneys have been involved in the defense of numerous product liability, personal injury and property damage claims, including those involving motor vehicles and motor vehicle components, elevators and escalators, industrial machines and equipment, chain saws, radial arm and table saws, construction equipment, building and housing apparatus, aircraft, ladders, scaffolding, farm equipment, power circuit breakers and other electrical equipment, power manlifts, firearms, industrial jacks, grinding wheels, dry chemical fire extinguishers, beverage containers, cardboard packaging, flammable fabrics, baking equipment, sprinkler systems, insulation, bicycles, motorcycles, smoke detectors and agricultural chemicals.

We also have an active premises liability practice involving retailers and shopping centers. Further, we are experienced in hazardous waste and pollution matters, having handled pollution and environmental litigation involving a number of sites and incidents.

A number of our lawyers are active in the American Board of Trial Advocates, American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, American Bar Association Litigation & Tort and Insurance Practice Sections, International Association of Defense Counsel, the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel, the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, and other similar organizations.
