Williams Kastner is well known for its vast litigation experience and has a broad-based general litigation practice. Attorneys are experienced in litigation related to: administrative law, antitrust, bankruptcy, breach of contract, business torts, class actions, construction, defamation, employment practices, fire and marine, hazardous waste and other pollution issues, insurance coverage, environmental and land use, intellectual property, lender liability, medical devices, personal injury defense, pharmaceuticals, products liability, professional liability (brokers, accountants, counselors, physicians, dentists, attorneys and engineers), real estate, securities, trade secrets, transportation and a variety of other areas of law.

The trial lawyers at Williams Kastner are licensed in several Northwest states and have extensive trial experience in federal and state courts. They have experience both as national coordinating counsel and as lead trial counsel, working with national, regional and local counsel. Williams Kastner has far more jury trial experience than any other major firm in the Pacific Northwest.

In the area of medical malpractice, Williams Kastner attorneys have accumulated extensive experience in handling—almost exclusively for the defense—medical and dental malpractice claims. Our firm has defended far more health care providers and institutions than any other law firm in the Northwest. Our extensive medical library, and intimate knowledge of substantive medical and legal issues allows efficient and effective representation of physicians, midwives, nurses, clinics, hospitals, and other health care providers.

In the area of product liability, Williams Kastner attorneys not only defend individual cases, but also have accumulated extensive experience in handling mass tort litigation. Our firm has considerable experience with such representative products as PCBs, asbestos, intrauterine devices, formaldehyde products, polyurethane and polystyrene, diethylstilbestrol (DES), Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) and other drug products,  motor vehicles and motor vehicle components, trucks, elevators and escalators, industrial machines and equipment, chain saws, radial arm and table saws, construction equipment, building and housing apparatus, aircraft, ladders, scaffolding, farm equipment, power circuit breakers and other electrical equipment, power manlifts, firearms, industrial jacks, grinding wheels, dry chemical fire extinguishers, beverage containers, cardboard packaging, flammable fabrics, baking equipment, sprinkler systems, insulation, bicycles, motorcycles, smoke detectors and agricultural chemicals.

Several of our trial lawyers have active general liability and premise liability practices involving retailers, banking institutions, and shopping centers. Furthermore, they are experienced in hazardous waste and pollution matters, having handled pollution and environmental litigation involving a number of sites and incidents in the Pacific Northwest.

Williams Kastner has successfully prosecuted major lender liability cases (involving alleged wrongful debt acceleration, wrongful repossession and disposition of manufacturing plant, inventories and intellectual properties) in state court, on appeal and in federal bankruptcy proceedings and obtained multi-million dollar judgments for our clients. Other significant issues litigated in those cases were the determination of propriety of, and legal standards applicable to, debt accelerations; adequacy and legal effect of debtor’s consents and waivers; adequacy and legality of collateral disposition procedures; and valuation issues pertaining to going concern versus liquidation values and valuation of inventories, real properties, manufacturing equipment, patents and other intellectual properties.

A number of Williams Kastner’s attorneys are active in the American College of Trial Lawyers, American Board of Trial Advocates, American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, American Bar Association Litigation & Tort and Insurance Practice Sections, International Association of Defense Counsel, the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel, USLAW NETWORK, the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and other similar organizations.
