Experience:
Kim Baker is a member in the Seattle office. Ms. Baker provides risk management and guidance to business owners to help prevent or minimize the likelihood of litigation being filed. She has an active litigation practice in which she defends companies and individuals who are being sued for complaints of negligently manufactured products, alleged employment and work place misconduct. She has appeared before several administrative agencies including the Department of Health, Department of Licensing and the state and federal employment enforcement agencies. An active member of the national defense bar, Ms. Baker served as the secretary treasurer for DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar in 2009. She was named to Super Lawyers by Washington Law & Politics magazine for 2001 - 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. She has also been recognized by the Seattle Met magazine as a “Top Lawyer” in Health Care for 2010, a designation based upon Martindale-Hubbell's ranking of those practitioners in King County who have been judged by their peers to be “AV Preeminent”—the highest peer-review rating available.
Affiliations:
Ms. Baker is active in the health care community, both on a local and national level. In October 2005, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the Defense Research Institute and is a member of its Health Care, Labor & Employment and Drug and Medical Device Sections, and its Drug and Medical Device Steering Committee. Ms. Baker was chair of the 2004 Medical Liability Seminar, and in 2003, she was appointed to the DRI Law Institute and serves as the liaison to medical liability, drugs and medical device and appellate advocacy. Ms. Baker is also a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and chairs both the Employment Section and the Membership Development subcommittee for Diversity Membership. Locally, she is a member of the Washington Health Care Risk Management Society and the Washington State Society of Hospital Attorneys.
